:// The Remnant Path, Journal Entry #152

Path Date: TRP:PFC:2005.152.11.07.4.0800

(Normally I don't post these public, but I did this time.)

Briefing: Good morning Lord, Father of my father, and father of Abraham! I am here, Lord, in Your presence. Breathing the breath that You gave me. Help me to do Your will today! God, I pray for Steven also, that You would bless Him mightily as he prepares to begin class today. Also be with Serena and Kristen as they are teaching and being taught by You. Bless them in their work, and keep them in Christ.

Debriefing: Ephesians 2:8-9 I mean that you have been saved by grace through believing. You did not save yourselves, it was a gift from God. It was not a result of your own efforts, so you cannot brag about it.

Hebrews 11:1 Faith means believing in being sure of the things we hope for, and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it.

Hebrews 11:1 Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it.

Philippians 4:4-7 Be full of joy in the Lord always, I will say again be full of joy. Let everyone see that you are gentle and kind. The Lord is coming soon. Do not worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks. And God's peace, which is so great we cannot understand it, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 3:15 Respect Christ as the holy Lord in your hearts. Always be ready to answer anyone everyone who asks you to explain about the hope you have in Christ Jesus, but answer in a gentle way and with respect.

Encampment: In our little room at the church.

Marching Orders: Exodus 17 (link) Here, in the first half of the chapter, we have a small story about the Israelites being thirsty. But why? Why would God allow them to thirst? Isn't thirst bad? The only reason I can think of that this story is here is to show the glory of God. Yes, great, he provided them with water, but he also is setting up another time of testing for the Israelites, and for Moses. Another time for God to prove Himself, to show Himself Holy and Awesome.

In the second half, we have another story of Israel defeating the Amelikites.

Forgive me if you are offended, I really don't mean to.

One of the things that *always* irked me about Christianity is that god does this or that to proove his greatness. Who's he proving it to? He know's he great. He knows he's awesome. He doesn't need to proove crap. Christianity seems to assume a basis of insecurity in gods actions. For one, god is infinite, its punny for ppl to try to put the infinite in finite terms. For two, its pretty insulting (esp to the greatness of god) to convey the sense that god is seeking acceptance from his creation. How silly! According to god, god is a fact and that's it.

Perhaps I didn't say it well... but god doesn't want or need conquest. Ppl do. And I think it is that insistence that drives ppl farther from god than closer.

I'd really like to hear your viewpoint, though.b

I really did see your comment! I haven't forgot about you! ;-)

I'm still trying to formulate an answer, but believe me, I'm not offended, and I'm not easily offended.

We'll definitely discuss this soon...
